The USB end is connected to my laptop and the serial female is connected to the console port. I am using the correct baud rate, data bits and stop bits for my modem. This is how i connected to putty. PuTTY opens that port and exchanges raw text with the device using the selected communication parameters such as Speed (baud), Data bits, Parity, Stop bits, and Flow control. When I launch putty I get a black screen and it doesn’t respond to any keyboard input. Any other ports on the front of the switch won’t give you a serial connection because they are Ethernet ports.
